Jeff Burton-1994 Rookie of the Year

Jeff Burton Jeff Burton
Roush Racing

Jeff Burton is a driver who I think has shown a lot of progress and maturity since coming into Nascar. He has shown his abilities in the Stavola #8 car, and has since shown his maturity as the driver of the Roush Racing #99. I feel that he will be a reliable asset to the Roush stable of drivers and only a matter of time before he wins his first race.

Jeff has proven in the last ten races that he has the car, the team, and the resources to win races. He only needs to learn what he needs to tell everyone on the team to get into victory lane at any given race track. I felt he was a real contender at Rockingham to win, if he had been able to guess that the race was going to go 80 or so laps under green, he might have been able to change his setup to get up front at the finish of the race.

Jeff and wife Kim welcomed their first child to their home during 1995. Jeff was on pins and needles during the July running of the Pepsi 400 at Daytona. A cellular phone was within reach and an airplane ready and waiting outside the track for a quick trip home, but Kimberle Paige waited until Daddy was back from the race weekend and was born two days later.

1999 Season Update
Jeff really showed everybody at Charlotte that he is serious about winning races and the championship, not only did he have a car that appeared to be running on rails he also was able to run anywhere on the track. Jeff brought home his 3rd win of the season and 8th win of his career, and the Winston Million bonus money to become only the 3rd driver to take home the bonus.
Jeff won a race at Dartlington that will have to go down a one of the weirdest finishs in a race. As he came out of turn 4, he hit the outside wall and was able to take the caution flag as it started raining to get career win #7.
He has 3 wins so far in the 99 racing season.
Past News Updates
Jeff Burton and Roof Flaps

At Talladega Jeff Burton's car roof was confiscated. Apparently the flaps were too far forward. He has been issued a $20,000 dollar fine. An outside company hangs the body for Roush and they were the ones who did it. The Roush Team, however is responsible.

Congratulation to Jeff on his win at Texas.Jeff has enter a whole new phase of his career with his first win, from now on he will be judged based on this win and he will have to adjust and accept that fact to be able to win more races. I think this team is very capable of winning more races. They have proved they have what it takes to win, now they need to use that knowledge to continue the streak, and not become a one win wonder.

Jeff really broke through as a driver in 1997. After the win at Texas he came to Bristol and won the Busch Series race and saturday. However on sunday at the Food City 500 he returned to the bad luck side of racing with an engine failure. I am hoping to see more of this car at the front of many more race in the future.
